Ghazal-Friendship

“YOU”

Forgotten of days of pure happiness, have you;
Gone away and left me again, have you.

Another day tricked in your false laughs,
Of what once I thought were real; have you

Ever thought as walking away step by step;
What its like to stand alone in a desert of lies, thank you.

You have hardened me,
Taught how to cry without tears, have you.

What I had once trusted in, all lies
And broken down memories, have you

Perhaps only a dream of my own,
Taken apart everything of me, have you.

Yet again I try to believe those beautiful illusions,
Allow me another hope, may you

Will this pain ever cease;
Drifted away and thrust me aside, have you

That one word weighs a ton over my mind
Never seen beyond my weary smiles, have you.

Our fading colour of friendship,
Broken our bond, have you.

Sonnet

She smiles in picture frames of the staircase
But, what hurls inside of her differs
She writes a letter of her feelings and place
his name in gold, stamped with pink stickers

She holds tightly onto the rose bouquet
Brushes her hair, flattens her skirt, she taps
Counting each minute tick away
Leaning on the tree she thinks, perhaps.

Hiding her cheeks blush cherry red
As leaves sway about, and butterflies flutter
Among the spring breeze, her heart thumps ahead
For her love, oh, Benjamin Schuter.

Just as she decides to turn, appears her love
And maybe, she sent her messenger dove.

Elegy-Friendship

He was a person with all goods and praise
Always the one I could lean on the most,
Share my thoughts and trust against
But that I did not know until this time

Thankful as I am for all memories
we shared, and although still sorrowful
You will never disappear from our hearts
Goodbye, though now I am able to let you go.

I can still hear your laughs and whispers
But now they say to keep on moving through
I have no idea of what to do
Because your voice melts back into the walls

I still cannot bear that you are now gone
Into the arms of heaven and the Lord
Among us you will always take your place
Farewell, you will never be forgotten.

Ode-Friendship

Ode to my friends who sketch my smiles and laughs
And side by side walk through lightning and storms
Until they lead my path through brightened days
Ode to my dear grateful memories

My most valuable and importance of all
Who shout encouragements and yank my hand
They are the cherry tops of my life
Ode to my dear wonderful leaning poles

Changes and influence toward myself
Maybe some I may regret on
But these I carelessly say or reflect on
For, ode to my dear lovely friends

Ballad-Mother to Daughter Relationship

BEHIND BARS; SEPARATED

She sat in her high-back wheeled chair
A white board resting above her knees
Head tilted to the left, thoughts unclear,
And rocking about, back and forth, back and forth,
Impatiently.

The silent atmosphere consumed the stay.
Thursday afternoon of early December, it was,
And on her white board small sheets lay
Happy. Sad. Scared. Anxious. Exited.
It says.

I ask, “how do you feel,
About your children coming to visit?”

Her eyes, gray and worn, signals toward the word
“happy,”
a second past by, her thoughts shifted
“sad,” her eyes casted.

“Did you mean happy and sad?”

She blinks,
her eyes tell me a whole different story.

Only once she had held them in her arms,
Her own children,
and only once she had heard their breath
Since the day her triplets were born.
Tragedy. Oxygen loss

Divorced and locked, her love,
In an angry struggle over their children
They had once dreamed and prayed of
Now all have disappeared,
Beyond her sight.

Lost and trapped in her body
She can only blink;
Motionless, she fights alone
to see her children once again.
Her name,

Abbie Dorn.

Friend
Unbreakable, trustworthy
Cherish, caring, guiding
Laughter, memories, wrath, rival
Detest, hate, argue
Vicious, envious

Free Verse Poem-Friendship

THANK YOU

Pictures after pictures of us too
Waving at the camera.
We were at a theme park
And I had forgotten my lunch sack.
Thank you for sharing such memories.

At your sleep over party
We slept horizontally on the bed
In the morning to realize
That I taken all your blanket
Thank you for your warmth.

My apartment,
5 minute walk away from yours.
And even when you moved to another continent
Your house,
5 minute drive away from mine.
I followed your steps.
Thank you for guiding me.

Our bond is like a rope
That can never be untied.
And because you are leaving
I say this one more time

Thank you.

Research Questions

 1) What is required in the educational field to become a dentist (college years & education)

       2) What do dentists do? (stable income)

       3) Does it fit my personality and will I enjoy it?  Is there a possibility in changing my career in my future because of the lack of enjoyment? (Which is more vital, my priority or a stable income)

Spiritual Gifts Assessment

Today, during class, we took the Spiritual Gifts Assessment in which we found each of our talents in the ways of connecting with God and his words. By taking this test, we were able to get to know our selves better and find out our hidden gifts in the spiritual side. Perhaps in the future, we will be able to use these gifts wisely to help the people who are in need of spiritual paths.

Through out the test we were instructed to give markings of 3 as highly true and 0 as never true regarding to what we are. I received results of service, mercy, and prophecy as my spiritual gifts, meaning that I enjoy working behind scenes and finding joy in supporting the work of other and helping without being asked and comforting people who are going through painful experiences of their lives.  Furthermore, I found out that I had gifts of influencing people in godly ways that might as well as change their lives spiritually and being at God's side even during harsh times. I believe that parts of these characteristics of me are true, although some I partially do not agree with. I hope that this is part of God's plan for me and will influence my future so that I will be led to his path.

Last Class with Counselor

Today, we were able to finish the SDS testing and gets suggestions of our future careers depending on our talents and what we enjoy doing. I noticed how many of the jobs I received from the results of the test related to my parent's career. I realized today of how much my parents had influenced me although I did not particularly consider their jobs as one of my interests. Later I furthermore found out that many others had similar results in which they had inherited parts of their parent's career.

Today is the last writing class with our counselor and next week we are planned for researching the career we received from the SDS test results.

Learning Style

Before we continued the SDS testing from last class we were given the printed results of the Learning Style test and discussed the various types of learning style including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Visual type of learning is where you are able to understand better through presentations or diagrams while auditorial type of learning is where you are more comfortable with listening when studying.  Furthermore, kinesthetic style of learning is where you often have to take short breaks in between studying because you can not keep still, and overall, this is considered a difficult learning type to handle. However, my learning style was not clear and I was told that I may be suited in any of the style without major problems where as others might have a hard time adjusting their conformability in the different teaching style of teachers.

Learning About Myself

Today, through naviance.com we were able to take the learning style test, personality test, and part of the career choices test. In summary of the learning style test, I work best when my environment is quiet and prefer bright light. Moreover, through the personality test I was able to realize the strengths and weakness of my personality in which includes of being a good listener and not dominating the conversation, as well as blind spots such as appearing to be less enthusiastic than you may really be. The booklet test that I am partly done is very detailed and includes a lot of jobs and I hope to find the one that fits for me the most from the list.

Values

Your values are also an essential factor when choosing your future career and each of us have a certain value that we consider necessary to have in our environment. Last writing class, we were assigned an activity in which we were told to cut out the following values and paste it into a construction paper in the order from the most important to the least important items you want to be included in your career. It was vital to be honest with your list and that the list reflected on your thoughts, not regarding to what others thought about it.

Talents

In my words, talent is the our own unique natural gift we receive from God and in which the amount of talent does not matter from the characteristics of us.

Through youth skills website I was able to realize what I am good at, and there were many categories that I didn't even know or consider as talents. Some including being able to self-control, or ability to control my behavior, and I am able to easily listen to others during meets or regular conversations. Furthermore, because I have moved so much in my past and had to adapt different environments, I've developed a new talent in which I can now adjust to changes and new conditions fairly quickly. Although I have no natural talent in art, I feel the most confident in expressing my thoughts through this particular skill.

Thought Questions

How do you plan on choosing a career?
Choosing a career is a major decision of my life; It deals with my future and it may possibly be where I will be stuck at for the rest of my life. My career would depend on my academics as well as the area that I am especially good at or have special interests on. There are much more careers available for me than I am aware about now and planing would be necessary. Many resources about careers and jobs are available in the internet and when searching through the resources, I would choose a job with a reasonable income as well as balance it out with what I know will enjoy doing.

Does your gender make a difference?
Although the old view of dividing male and female's domain of work area have been improved, choosing your career may heavily depend on your gender. For example, many mothers have part time jobs or even no particular specialities, being the housekeeper most of the time. Furthermore, some say that it is wrong for the leader's place or higher positioned job is handed to females. On the other hand, I think that unlike the society that we have now, both female and male would be judged equally when coming to job opportunities regarding to the fact that education have improved.

Who will help you choose your career?
My parents are the most influential people on me, as well as my friends. My mother is a dentist, thus, I had seen the grim sides of being one of her, and especially because I downright hated having to see "blood" I knew that doctors of any kind was out of my list. My friends are also a great help to me in choosing my career, as we are able to discuss our areas of interests with out the pressures of parents.

Can the bible offer any help?
Another source that I may be able to receive help is from God's words, the Bible. It does not tell us directly of what careers we should choose, but it informs us of the right path we should take especially when it comes to choices. Moreover, we can connect our lives to the parables in the Bible, and through the Bible, God may be able to direct us to the plans that he had set up for us.

Simple Steps in Making a Chocolate

Sweetness is the best advice I can give you to cease your mom's anger, especially a hand-made one. Its the most acceptable apology you can give (your opposition will be driven out by the sugar than to care more about your apology), and if you are in need of romantic performance this is the how-to. This is the simplest recipe in making a chocolate that will come out ambrosial no matter what your cooking skills are.
Lets start with gathering your ingredients and other necessary materials. You need chocolate molds, small plastic bags, ribbon wires, melting use-chocolate and sprinkles are an option. First, melt the chocolate (in a bowl) using a microwave and clean the molds while doing so. Next, pour the melted chocolate into the mold and put sprinkles if you want extra decoration. Now all you have to do is harden the chocolate by putting it in the refrigerator. It wont take long especially if you don't open the refrigerator door often by curiosity. After the chocolate is hardened, take it off from the molds and put them in small plastic bags and seal them by ribbon wires.....and your done :D

Quote Response

"Sometimes things can go right only by first going very wrong." (Edward Tenner)

There’s always that time when you get to know about something better after you make the big mistake. You may ask, why make the mistake when you may be able to understand it with out it. Well for some of us, if they had never crashed into that particular uphill of their life, they never would of tried it, and as a result, would never have gotten to enjoy the downhill. For example I had a time at a theme park where my peers decided to go on the free fall ride. I was one of the absolute protesters and if it wasn’t for my friend who yanked me into the waiting line, I would of never even thought of trying it. It was too late to get out of the line by then because people were constantly being added into the line and there already was a long line building up behind me. Terrified, as my seat began to lift up, I shut my eyes tight and started searching for prayers. Again, it was my friend who told me to open my eyes. What lay beyond me was bewitching. Although I could only see a small part of Auckland beyond the theme park, it was pure New Zealand-ness with towers and all, especially the fact that it was in harmony with its greenness. What came next were more thumbs up-we began to fall.  After the ride, I got to know that I actually enjoyed it and it was my friend who claimed that she was never going to try the ride again. So, in summary, although you might never want to get involved in some particular act, once you try it or get involved by mistake, you might learn new things about it, and maybe get to like it….and might as well as do that crazy thing all over again.

The Story of the Migrant Mother

(Write the story of the Great Depression from the migrant mother's point of view.)

Hesitating, I woke up into the still dull and foggy morning, maybe expecting for a miracle to happen, maybe for this hunger to end.... if there was just a cure for this sickness. Filled with worries of all sorts, I looked beyond the cracked window to the land that has become parched and futile in which can no longer support my family. Then squinted further into the distance, pass the streets where my homeless neighbors now wondered about in despair, with their bare feet against the dusty land, and dark circles boldly shown beneath their hollow eyes. It has been days since my children and I have last eaten a decent meal and I have lost the count of time. Hope was the only thing left, and I too, wanted to give up...sigh...but I know that I will never be able to leave my children behind. Perhaps this will get better. Perhaps. Then a sudden thought struck into my mind, if only. I startled myself by realizing that I was waking up George and Eddie. "We're leaving," I grabbed onto each of my children's wrist pulling them up. Perhaps I could start again. In a new place...by chance, it might be better there.

The train squealed and pumped in rhythm as it speed down past my village. It would lead us to another place, another world. A new seed of hope spread across my mind as my children leaned on me covering their eyes from the dust spraying from the train. Perhaps, but this would be our last hope.
