Ghazal-Friendship

“YOU”

Forgotten of days of pure happiness, have you;
Gone away and left me again, have you.

Another day tricked in your false laughs,
Of what once I thought were real; have you

Ever thought as walking away step by step;
What its like to stand alone in a desert of lies, thank you.

You have hardened me,
Taught how to cry without tears, have you.

What I had once trusted in, all lies
And broken down memories, have you

Perhaps only a dream of my own,
Taken apart everything of me, have you.

Yet again I try to believe those beautiful illusions,
Allow me another hope, may you

Will this pain ever cease;
Drifted away and thrust me aside, have you

That one word weighs a ton over my mind
Never seen beyond my weary smiles, have you.

Our fading colour of friendship,
Broken our bond, have you.

Sonnet

She smiles in picture frames of the staircase
But, what hurls inside of her differs
She writes a letter of her feelings and place
his name in gold, stamped with pink stickers

She holds tightly onto the rose bouquet
Brushes her hair, flattens her skirt, she taps
Counting each minute tick away
Leaning on the tree she thinks, perhaps.

Hiding her cheeks blush cherry red
As leaves sway about, and butterflies flutter
Among the spring breeze, her heart thumps ahead
For her love, oh, Benjamin Schuter.

Just as she decides to turn, appears her love
And maybe, she sent her messenger dove.

Elegy-Friendship

He was a person with all goods and praise
Always the one I could lean on the most,
Share my thoughts and trust against
But that I did not know until this time

Thankful as I am for all memories
we shared, and although still sorrowful
You will never disappear from our hearts
Goodbye, though now I am able to let you go.

I can still hear your laughs and whispers
But now they say to keep on moving through
I have no idea of what to do
Because your voice melts back into the walls

I still cannot bear that you are now gone
Into the arms of heaven and the Lord
Among us you will always take your place
Farewell, you will never be forgotten.

Ode-Friendship

Ode to my friends who sketch my smiles and laughs
And side by side walk through lightning and storms
Until they lead my path through brightened days
Ode to my dear grateful memories

My most valuable and importance of all
Who shout encouragements and yank my hand
They are the cherry tops of my life
Ode to my dear wonderful leaning poles

Changes and influence toward myself
Maybe some I may regret on
But these I carelessly say or reflect on
For, ode to my dear lovely friends

Ballad-Mother to Daughter Relationship

BEHIND BARS; SEPARATED

She sat in her high-back wheeled chair
A white board resting above her knees
Head tilted to the left, thoughts unclear,
And rocking about, back and forth, back and forth,
Impatiently.

The silent atmosphere consumed the stay.
Thursday afternoon of early December, it was,
And on her white board small sheets lay
Happy. Sad. Scared. Anxious. Exited.
It says.

I ask, “how do you feel,
About your children coming to visit?”

Her eyes, gray and worn, signals toward the word
“happy,”
a second past by, her thoughts shifted
“sad,” her eyes casted.

“Did you mean happy and sad?”

She blinks,
her eyes tell me a whole different story.

Only once she had held them in her arms,
Her own children,
and only once she had heard their breath
Since the day her triplets were born.
Tragedy. Oxygen loss

Divorced and locked, her love,
In an angry struggle over their children
They had once dreamed and prayed of
Now all have disappeared,
Beyond her sight.

Lost and trapped in her body
She can only blink;
Motionless, she fights alone
to see her children once again.
Her name,

Abbie Dorn.

Dynamite Poem-Friends vs. Foe

Friend
Unbreakable, trustworthy
Cherish, caring, guiding
Laughter, memories, wrath, rival
Detest, hate, argue
Vicious, envious
Foe
